An introduction and an apology.

Hello,

I'm Brandon Schwass and I have a confession to make. I'm obsessed, it's a sickness, it truly is. It was a sickness born of whispers and rumblings, a simple spark and my curiousity flew away with it. I first heard about the HBO series A Game of Thrones through the place most people hear about things obscure to them, the internet. I can't begin to tell you where I first heard about it but from that moment forward I was entranced by the idea of it, someone described it as "A medieval Sopranos", a truly dark and gritty fantasy series coming to HBO in the "summer"(/winter if you're a kiwi like me) of 2011.

I was sold as soon as I heard this premise. I've spent my life a fan of fantasy, fantasy is beautiful escapism from the boring and meandering world we live in. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've spent many a night lost in worlds of imagination that could bring prospects far beyond any this world truly offers. And this imaginary spark is inflamed by certain wonderful series and muses; I was never the best reader in the world. Infact being the lazy spoilt kid I was, I used to get my father to read books to me from a young age and never read them myselfs as I found it challenging. And I don't like to be challenged. However as time grew on and on, and I grew older, uglier and hairier I realised I couldn't sit in the lap of a man who was growing smaller than me by the day. So I began to read myself, I remember the first series I jumped into fully was a series written by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell called "The Edge Chronicles". It was a truly transporting experience as I began to imagine myself in and about the wonderfully woven world of The Edge, The Deepwoods, The Twilight Woods and the Mire. This ability to create a truly rich and diverse world in which naturally the inhabitants grew as diverse and wonderfully unique became something I looked for in every fantasy novel I read.

Naturally as a reader, and as a human. I progressed onto bigger and grander stories until one day, as mentioned about this wonderful world was presented to me in the form of a television show. "Game of Thrones" was already shaping up to be an epic experience with some of the greatest television and movie actors moving to be apart of it and I was learning more about the world which the show came from. Naturally I learnt it came from a series of books called A Song of Ice and Fire written by a little white bearded fellow known as George R.R Martin. Unbeknowst to me by some twist of marketing and journalism fate, I had just stumbled upon my favourite series of all time.

Needless to say this was the beggining of the end of my productivity, I powered my way through the first four books in a month. Not just any month mind you, a month in which I had 6 major assignments and 4 exams for my University degree in marketing. And the books were only the start, as I finished them one by one, I became more interested in the lore, the world, the houses, the history, the magic, the prophecies, the theories out there by all the wonderful fans.

This my friends is why this blog was created. To discuss these theories and to provide an outlet for me, to rant about what has become my favourite series without annoying my friends, but instead annoying my keyboard with my furious typing. My former highschool teachers with my shocking grammar. And last but not least any of you unlucky souls who stumble upon this page.

I bid you welcome, and I bid you my solace.

I'm Brandon, of House Schwass and winter is coming, let's discuss how and when.
